The Full Story of
Elisa Zhang
Elisa Zhang is a junior at Dougherty Valley High School. As a student who is passionate in technology, math, and science, she has participated in many events to expand on her knowledge. She had also received honors in academic competitions such as the Berkeley Math Tournament and USA Biology Olympiad and was qualified to participate in American Invitational Mathematics Examination through the AMC 10 with distinction.
In addition, Elisa has been involved in cybersecurity research with a university for over a year now, allowing her to gain a better understanding of security on a conceptual and code level while teaching her the process behind conducting research. She has recently published a research paper as co-author and presented it in an international conference.
Outside of academics, she enjoys participating in volunteer activities and working on her leadership skills. She contributed over 100 volunteer hours in the past year and earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Her current leadership positions include chief marketing officer and newsletter president at a nonprofit volunteer organization, as well as an officer position in her school math club. She has also been dancing for over ten years and loves everything about it: learning choreography, participating in regional and national competitions, and most importantly, bonding with teammates.
In these past few years, the rapid growth of artificial intelligence and its vast potential has piqued her interest, and reading research papers about new AI-related topics and algorithms have served as a perfect introduction. She hopes that by participating in ArcticEider and learning about its goals and products, she will be able to learn more about the applications of AI and further pursue her interest in this field.
