The Full Story of

William Zhao

William Zhao is a junior at Dougherty Valley High School. He is interested in math, physics, and computer science, and primarily spends his time studying for academic competitions.

He was ranked as a winner in the highly competitive USA Math Olympiad, within the top 50 out of several hundred thousand participating students. He won a silver medal in the USA Physics Olympiad, an honor reserved for the top physics students in the nation. William performed well in various other competitions like the American Mathematical Competition, Canada’s national mathematics competition, and many other competitions hosted by prominent colleges like Stanford, MIT, etc..

Besides studying, William holds leadership positions in several clubs and organizations. He is the president of his school’s physics club, a position that has let him share his passion and knowledge of physics with hundreds of students. He is the president of a local volunteer organization, the Youth Euclid Association, which he helped revive from inactivity by hosting activities and teaching classes. William also co-founded a fully student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Math Advance!. William’s role in Math Advance! has been to write problems for our original math contest and class series, as well as creating a close-knit community of like-minded peers that now stretches across the whole nation. In his spare time, William enjoys eating food and exercising. He likes to write; he won a silver key in the Scholastic Writing competition and is a staff writer for his school newspaper, the acclaimed Wildcat Tribune.

William understands that through history, automation is the single most powerful concept that drives society forward. Recently, a new revolution with immense potential began garnering attention: artificial intelligence. By joining ArcticEider's team, William hopes to get involved in pioneering a fruitful field that will define the future of technology.
